Resources Available in Singapore

1) DAS (www.das.org.sg)

The DAS functions as a one-stop centre with a multi-disciplinary team of specialist psychologists, speech language therapists, educational therapists and lecturers to service the dyslexics and those who wish to help them. Click the images below to find out more about each of our services.

  • Assessments (Get your child assessed at DAS)
Dyslexia is normally diagnosed through an assessment by an educational or specialist psychologist. A psychological assessment provides an objective measurement of your child's abilities in a variety of areas.

The child is tested for intelligence, literacy abilities and ability to use psychological processes of imagination, creativity, reasoning with language. As no two dyslexics are the same or have the same type/severity of difficulties, an assessment is vital.

  • Courses & Workshops (Attend our courses to upgrade your knowledge and help children with learning differences.)

The main goal of the DAS Training Services is to help improve the lives of children with dyslexia. We aim to achieve this through passing on specialist knowledge to educators, professionals and parents who work and interact with children with dyslexia.

  • Education Therapy (Find out about the DAS Education Therapy.)

The Education Programmes Division(EPD) provides education therapy to our students who are primarily diagnosed with dyslexia and/or other related specific learning differences. It is made up of a group of qualified and experienced Educational Therapists (EdTs) who render a special remedial programme for dyslexic children. Our Educational Therapists are trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach and also undergo intensive academic tutorship and professional mentorship with industry experts so that they are equipped with the right skills and strategies to aid dyslexics.

Our classes are built to enhance the dyslexic's grasp on the English language in the form of phonological awareness, writing strategies and comprehension skills, oracy and raising general self esteem in the form of multisensory literacy activities. Children attending our learning programme are mainly from the various mainstream schools. There are also a small number of students from private and international schools who are on our learning programme. Each child spends about 3 years on our programme on an average.
